Floyd Eco Village is a budding multi-generational intentional community focused around sustainable food and energy production. We are located in the the Blue Ridge Mountains on about 70 acres, less than five minutes from the town of Floyd.
We are just breaking ground this year, and are in the process of putting together a farm plan and gradually expanding to 3 acres in mixed vegetables and berries. At the moment, we have started a small garden growing many heirloom varieties of tomatoes, squash, peppers and herbs. Although we are not certified, we practice sustainable, ‘organic’ methods of food production within a holistic framework, free from chemical fertilizers and pesticides. We are building edible forest gardens and doing lots of native edible perennial landscaping as well.
